Horseback Riding - Hacienda Chalan Riverside Surroudnings
Get to know the landscape of the Inca on this horseback riding tour through Urubamba – also known as the Valley of the Inca. This four-hour tour takes you down a gorgeous, riverside path. You don’t have to be an expert equestrian for this adventure – it’s designed for beginner and intermediate horseback riders. The Peruvian Paso horse offers a particularly smooth ride, which makes for an easygoing tour.

You’ll depart from Hacienda del Chalán, an expansive ranch with a good selection of friendly, well-groomed horses. Soon after setting out, you’ll come to suspension bridge that crosses over the Vilcanota River. Steel your nerves as you cross, and dare to look down at the rushing waters below. Once on the other side of the bridge, you’ll soon cross by one of the largest Inca cemeteries in Peru.
Next, you’ll pass through Yanahuara village, passing by an abundance of cornfields. Unlike many of the towns that surround Machu Picchu, this village remains relatively unchanged by tourism. To complete the trail, you’ll pass over one more suspension bridge to round out your tour.

Rain jacket or poncho (December – April), sweater or jacket, hat, sunscreen, camera, and sunglasses.
