This tour begins at a ranch called Hacienda del Chalán. Here, you’ll meet your four-legged trail companion – a well-groomed Peruvian Paso horse. These spanish horses are known for their even gait, which makes them easy for beginner to intermediate riders. They’ll make you feel confident, even as you cross the two suspension bridges that take you over the Vilcanota River.

First, you’ll climb to the top of a peak called “The Frog,” which is named for its frog-like shape. From this peak, you’ll have a lovely, panoramic view of the snow-capped Andes. At Moray, you’ll observe a depression with a series of terraces, where the Inca would experiment with agriculture and growing crops at different elevations. Then, you’ll trot to the Salinas salt pans, on a trail that leads you through the traditional town of Maras. When you arrive at the salt pans, you’ll dismount and take a closer look. After you explore on foot, you’ll get back on your horse and ride back to the ranch.
