Classic Nazca Lines from Ica

Classic Nazca Lines from Ica

This tour of the Nazca Lines flies over 15 glyphs that were left behind by inhabitants of the Nazca Desert. The Nazca people built these interesting designs between 500 BC and 500 AD. These pictographs are so large that you can only fully appreciate them from above. To this day, it’s a mystery how these ancient people managed to design such enormous geometric figures with such perfectly straight lines.

You’ll get to see famous Nazca sights like the hummingbird, the monkey, the spider, the hands, and the condor. The tour also visits more unusual glyphs like the “ancient astronaut,” a humanoid figure that looks like they might be wearing a large pair of goggles and has fueled speculation that this might be evidence of ancient aliens. Experts have posited that this is a depiction of a fisherman, with etchings of fish at their feet and a net in their hand.

Besides the images in the Nazca Desert, you’ll also get to see glyphs around the town of Palpa and near the Cantalloc Aqueduct. The aqueduct is an interesting sight all on its own—it’s made up of a series of concentric terraces built into the sides of man-made pits.

Please note: Nazca flights leave between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Flights are subject to weather conditions.
